Possible Causes

Hair or string wrapped around brush bar, Foreign object jammed in floorhead, Failed brush motor, Damaged brush drive belt or gear train

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Switch OFF and remove the battery pack before working on the floorhead or brush bar.

  • 1. Remove floorhead: Detach the motorised floorhead from the wand or main body.
  • 2. Access brush bar: Open the brush bar cover (usually a side cap or bottom plate). Carefully lift out the brush bar.
  • 3. Clear obstructions: Cut away hair, threads, and fibres from the brush bar and end caps. Check the brush housing for coins, toys, or other objects that could jam the bar.
  • 4. Check rotation: Spin the brush bar by hand. It should rotate smoothly. If it feels rough or seized at the ends, the bearings may be worn and the brush bar should be replaced.
  • 5. Inspect drive system: If your Swan model uses a belt or gear drive, inspect for a snapped belt or stripped gears. Replace the motorised floorhead brush bar and belt kit if damaged.
  • 6. Test brush motor: Reassemble the floorhead, refit the battery, and briefly power on. If the E3 error returns and the brush still doesn’t move despite being free, the floorhead brush motor or internal wiring is likely faulty and the complete floorhead may need replacement.
