Possible Causes
Non-genuine or incompatible battery pack, Damaged battery ID communication line, Firmware lockout due to detected unsafe pack
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Only use Tristar-approved batteries and chargers. Incompatible packs can overheat or cause fire.
- Remove third-party battery: If you are using a non-Tristar battery, remove it and install an original Tristar battery pack.
- Inspect battery contacts: Ensure that the small data/ID contact (often a third or fourth pin) is clean and not bent or recessed.
- Reset the unit: With the original battery installed, perform a power reset by holding the power button for 15–20 seconds (if supported by your model).
- Persistent E12: If the error remains with a genuine battery and charger, the ID communication circuit on the main PCB may be damaged and will require board replacement.
