Possible Causes
Brushroll obstructed by hair or debris, Seized brushroll end bearings, Shorted main suction motor, Clogged floor nozzle air path causing overload
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the vacuum OFF and remove the battery pack before working near the brushroll or nozzle.
- Clear the brushroll: Flip the floor nozzle over. Remove the brushroll access cover (usually secured by clips or small screws). Cut away hair, threads, and debris wrapped around the brushroll with scissors, taking care not to cut bristles.
- Check brushroll rotation: Spin the brushroll by hand. It should rotate freely. If it feels rough or seized at the ends, the bearings may be damaged and the brushroll assembly should be replaced.
- Inspect the nozzle air path: Remove any blockages from the nozzle inlet, neck, and wand connection. Use a long, flexible brush or a straightened coat hanger carefully to dislodge clogs.
- Reassemble and test: Reinstall the brushroll and cover, ensuring they are seated correctly. Reinsert the battery and test the vacuum. If it still shuts off quickly, the main suction motor may be drawing excessive current and require replacement.
