Possible Causes

Dirty or oxidized battery contacts, Battery not fully latched into the handle, Faulty Vax lithium-ion battery pack, Faulty battery connector on main body PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Switch the vacuum OFF, remove the battery pack and charger from the mains before inspecting anything.

  • 1. Remove and reseat the battery: Press the battery release catch and slide the battery out. Check that no plastic is deformed and that the latch moves freely. Reinsert the battery firmly until it clicks.
  • 2. Clean battery contacts: Inspect the metal contacts on the battery and inside the handle. If dull or dirty, gently clean with a dry microfiber cloth. For light oxidation, use a cotton bud lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol, then let it dry completely.
  • 3. Try a full charge: Place the battery on the original Vax charger or docking station. Ensure the charger LED behaves normally (steady or pulsing as per manual). Allow at least 3–4 hours of uninterrupted charging.
  • 4. Test with another battery (if available): If you have another compatible Vax battery (e.g. ONEPWR pack), fit it to the vacuum. If the error disappears, the original battery is likely faulty.
  • 5. Inspect the battery connector: With the battery removed, visually check the connector pins in the handle/main body for bent, recessed, or burnt contacts. Do not bend pins with metal tools; if pins are damaged, the main body assembly should be replaced.

If the E1 fault persists after cleaning and reseating, discontinue use and replace the battery pack or contact a Vax service centre, as continued use of a defective lithium-ion pack can be hazardous.
