Possible Causes
Blocked drain pump impeller, Clogged sump filter or drain hose, Kinked or incorrectly installed drain hose, Failed drain pump motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dishwasher and ensure there is no risk of electrical contact with standing water.
- Clean filters: Open the door, remove the lower rack, and take out the coarse and fine filters from the sump. Rinse thoroughly under running water to remove food debris and grease.
- Check for obstructions: Use a sponge or cup to remove standing water from the sump. Look inside the pump inlet for glass, bones, or other debris. Carefully remove any obstruction.
- Inspect drain hose: Check under the sink to ensure the drain hose is not kinked, crushed, or blocked at the connection to the sink trap. Detach the hose and flush it with water if necessary.
- Test drain function: Reassemble filters, restore power, and run a drain or cancel program. Listen for the drain pump. If it hums but does not pump, the impeller may be jammed or the pump is weak.
- Access and replace pump (if needed): Pull the dishwasher out, lay it on its back, and remove the bottom panel. Locate the drain pump on the side of the sump. Twist and remove the pump, check for debris, and test the motor with a multimeter. If defective, install a new Arcelik-compatible drain pump.
