Possible Causes

Blocked drain filter or sump, Clogged drain hose or sink connection, Foreign object jammed in Candy drain pump impeller, Failed drain pump motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dishwasher before accessing the filter or pump. Water may be dirty; wear gloves.

  • Clean filters: Remove the lower basket. Twist and lift out the filter assembly and coarse filter. Rinse thoroughly under hot water and remove any food debris.
  • Check sump area: Look into the sump (below the filter). Remove any glass, bones, or foreign objects that could block the pump inlet.
  • Inspect drain hose: Follow the drain hose from the dishwasher to the sink trap or standpipe. Ensure it is not kinked or crushed. Detach it from the sink connection and flush it through with hot water.
  • Check sink spigot: If recently installed to a new sink trap, ensure the blanking plug in the spigot has been removed. A blocked spigot will prevent draining.
  • Access drain pump: On many Candy models, the drain pump is accessible from the bottom or front. Remove the kick plate, locate the pump, and check for obstructions in the impeller. If the impeller is damaged or the pump does not run even with power applied, replace the drain pump.
