Possible Causes
Failed flow-through heater, Faulty NTC temperature sensor, Burnt heater relay on main control board, Wiring fault in heater circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the dishwasher from the mains before removing any panels. Water and electricity are a dangerous combination.
- Confirm symptom: Open the door mid-cycle (after at least 20–30 minutes) and check if the water and dishes feel cold. Persistent cold water indicates a heating issue.
- Check for limescale: Heavy limescale can overheat and damage the heater. Inspect the sump area and spray arms; if there is severe scale, run a descaler cycle after repair.
- Access heater: On many CDA dishwashers the heater is an inline flow-through unit attached to the circulation pump under the tub. Remove the lower front kick plate, then the side or bottom panel to access.
- Visual inspection: Look for burnt connectors, melted plastic around the heater terminals, or obvious damage to wiring.
- Basic electrical check (for trained persons only): With the appliance unplugged, use a multimeter to measure resistance across the heater terminals. An open circuit (infinite resistance) indicates a failed heater.
- If heater is open or leaking: Replace the heater assembly with a CDA-compatible flow-through heater. Ensure all hose clamps are tight and seals are correctly seated to prevent leaks.
- If heater tests OK: The NTC sensor or control board relay may be faulty. These require more advanced diagnosis; consider a professional repair.
