Possible Causes
Clogged sump or filter assembly, Blocked drain hose or air gap, Faulty Electrolux drain pump, Incorrect drain hose installation causing backflow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker and ensure the dishwasher is cool before working inside the tub or sump.
- Clean filters: Remove the lower rack. Twist and lift out the Electrolux fine and coarse filters from the bottom of the tub. Rinse thoroughly under hot water to remove food debris and grease.
- Inspect sump area: With filters removed, check the sump opening for glass, bones, or foreign objects blocking the drain path. Carefully remove any obstructions.
- Check drain hose: Access the drain hose under the sink. Detach it from the sink drain or garbage disposer and flush it with hot water. Ensure there are no kinks and that the hose loops up in a high drain loop to prevent backflow.
- Verify air gap (if fitted): Remove the air gap cap on the sink and clean out any buildup that could restrict flow.
- Test drain pump: Restore power and run a drain-only or cancel/drain cycle. If you hear humming but no water movement, the Electrolux drain pump may be jammed or failed and should be inspected and replaced if necessary.
