Possible Causes
Incoming water temperature too high, Stuck heating relay on control board, Faulty temperature sensor, Thermostat not opening at high temperature
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Extremely hot water can cause burns. Allow the unit to cool before servicing.
- Check water heater setting: Ensure your home water heater is not set above 140°F (60°C). Lower if necessary.
- Run a test cycle: Start a cycle and check water temperature after 10–15 minutes. If scalding hot, suspect a stuck heating relay or sensor issue.
- Test sensor and thermostat: With power off, test the NTC sensor and high-limit thermostat for proper resistance/continuity per the service manual.
- Replace control board: If the heater is energized when it should not be and components test good, replace the main control board.
