Possible Causes

Clogged drain filter, Blocked drain hose, Defective drain pump, Blocked sink siphon connection

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dishwasher and turn off the water supply before servicing.

  • Clean the filters: Open the door, remove the lower basket, and twist out the coarse and fine filters from the sump. Rinse thoroughly under warm water and remove any food debris from the sump area.
  • Check for foreign objects: Use a flashlight to look into the pump intake under the filter. Carefully remove glass, bones, or labels that may block the impeller.
  • Inspect the drain hose: Pull the dishwasher slightly out if built-in. Check that the drain hose is not kinked or crushed behind the unit. Detach it from the sink siphon or standpipe and flush it with water to clear blockages.
  • Clean sink connection: If the hose connects to a sink trap spigot, remove the spigot and clear any grease or food buildup.
  • Test the pump: Restore power and run a drain or cancel program. If the pump hums but does not move water, or is silent, the drain pump is likely defective and should be replaced.

For pump replacement, the dishwasher usually must be laid on its back and the base panel removed. If unsure, contact a Gorenje service center.
