If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance and close the water tap immediately to prevent further flooding.
- Check for visible leaks: Pull the dishwasher out from the cabinet. Inspect the sides and underneath for dripping water or wet insulation.
- Empty the base tray: Tilt the dishwasher carefully about 45° backward to allow water in the base tray to drain out onto towels. This may temporarily clear E4 but does not fix the underlying leak.
- Inspect hoses and clamps: Remove the side or bottom panels. Check the inlet hose connection, circulation pump hoses, drain hose, and heat exchanger connections for loose clamps or cracks.
- Examine sump and door seal: Look for damage around the plastic sump, door gasket, and lower spray arm area that could cause splashing and leaks.
- Float switch check: Locate the anti-flood float and microswitch in the base. Ensure the float moves freely and is not stuck by debris or scale.
Any cracked plastic components (sump, tub, or heat exchanger) should be replaced. If you cannot identify the leak source, contact Gorenje service for a pressure/leak test.
