Possible Causes
Blocked pressure chamber or hose, Faulty pressure switch, Sticking water inlet valve, Control board water level logic fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and close the water tap. Mop up any spilled water to avoid slipping.
- Check for siphoning: Ensure the drain hose is installed with a proper high loop and not inserted too far into the standpipe, which can cause backflow and incorrect levels.
- Clean pressure chamber: Access the side of the tub where the pressure chamber/air trap is located. Remove and rinse it to clear grease and detergent buildup.
- Inspect pressure hose: Follow the small hose from the sump or chamber to the pressure switch. Make sure it is not kinked, blocked, or split. Blow gently through it to confirm it is clear.
- Test inlet valve: With power disconnected, inspect the water inlet valve. If it continues to let water through when the machine is off, it is mechanically stuck open and must be replaced.
- Run a test cycle: After cleaning and reassembly, run a short program and monitor the fill level. If E5 persists, the pressure switch or control module may require replacement.
Because overfilling can cause property damage, do not continue using the dishwasher until the fault is resolved.
