Possible Causes

Partially blocked inlet valve, Clogged water softener or salt tank, Blocked flow meter, Incorrect installation of drain hose causing siphoning

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dishwasher and close the water tap before inspection.

  • Check inlet filters: Remove and clean the mesh filters in the inlet hose and at the valve on the dishwasher.
  • Verify drain hose routing: Ensure the drain hose has a proper high loop and is not installed too low, which can cause water to siphon out during filling.
  • Regenerate softener: Check that the salt reservoir has dishwasher salt and that the cap is tight. Run a hot program to flush the softener.
  • Inspect flow meter: On models with a side water matrix/flow meter, remove the side panel and check for heavy limescale or debris. Clean or replace if blocked.
  • Test fill level: Start a cycle and, after filling, open the door to check that water just covers the filter area. If very low, the inlet valve or control may be at fault.

If cleaning and hose correction do not resolve E8, the water inlet valve or flow meter assembly should be replaced.
