Dishwasher fills but water does not heat; program runs unusually long and E3 appears near the end.

Safety first: Disconnect mains power and close the water tap. Heating components operate at full mains voltage and can be dangerous.

• Confirm symptom: During a hot program, open the door briefly after 15–20 minutes (pause the cycle). If the water is cold and E3 later appears, a heating fault is likely.
• Check wiring at base: Remove the lower front kick plate or side panel to access the heater connections (on many Hansa models the heater is integrated with the circulation pump). Look for burnt connectors or melted insulation.
• Test heater resistance (experienced users): With power disconnected, unplug the heater terminals and measure resistance with a multimeter. Typical values are 20–30 Ω. An open circuit indicates a failed heater.
• Inspect NTC sensor: Locate the temperature sensor on the sump or heater housing. Check that it is firmly seated and its connector is secure. A broken or corroded sensor can cause E3.
• Reset and retest: After reseating connectors, restore power and run a short hot cycle. If E3 persists, the heater or control board must be replaced.

Because the heating circuit is high-voltage and often integrated with the circulation pump, replacement is best performed by a qualified technician.
