Possible Causes

Stuck or blocked pressure switch hose, Faulty pressure switch or water level sensor, Inlet valve stuck open mechanically, Control board not closing inlet valve

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and close the water tap. Use towels or a wet vacuum to remove excess water from the tub.

  • Check for siphoning: Ensure the drain hose is installed with a proper high loop and not inserted too deeply into the standpipe, which can cause backflow and confuse level sensing.
  • Inspect pressure hose: Access the side or bottom of the dishwasher to locate the thin pressure hose running from the sump to the pressure switch. Check for kinks, blockages, or splits. Remove and blow through it to clear debris.
  • Test inlet valve operation: With power disconnected, inspect the inlet valve for signs of limescale or mechanical sticking. If water continues to flow into the tub even when the machine is unplugged and tap is open, the valve is stuck open and must be replaced.
  • Check pressure switch: Ensure the electrical connector is secure. If the switch rattles loosely or shows burn marks, replacement is recommended.

After clearing the hose and verifying the inlet valve, restore power and run a short cycle. Persistent E5 indicates a faulty level sensor or control board, requiring professional service.
