Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dishwasher and close the water tap. Internal edges can be sharp; wear cut-resistant gloves.
- Confirm symptom: Start a program and listen after filling. If you hear only a low hum or nothing at all and E6 appears, the circulation pump is likely not running.
- Check for obstructions: Remove the lower spray arm and filters. Shine a light into the sump and feel gently for foreign objects near the pump inlet (plastic, glass, bones). Remove any debris.
- Access the pump: Lay the dishwasher on its back and remove the bottom panel. Locate the circulation pump attached to the sump. Inspect the wiring connector for looseness or burning.
- Spin the impeller (experienced users): Disconnect the pump and try to rotate the impeller by hand. It should turn smoothly. If seized or very stiff, the pump must be replaced.
- Electrical test: With the pump disconnected and power off, measure coil resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor.
If the pump and wiring test good, the main control board may not be supplying power and should be checked by a technician.
