Possible Causes
Blocked pressure chamber or air trap, Clogged pressure hose to level sensor, Faulty Hisense water level pressure switch or sensor, Stuck inlet valve allowing overfill
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and shut off the water supply before opening panels.
- 1. Check for overfill: Open the door and see if the water level is above the normal filter area. If so, manually remove excess water with a cup and towels.
- 2. Clean filters and sump: Remove and clean the Hisense filter assembly. Debris in the sump can affect water level sensing.
- 3. Inspect pressure hose and chamber: Access the side or bottom of the dishwasher to locate the small rubber or plastic hose running from the sump/air trap to the pressure sensor. Remove the hose and blow through it to clear blockages. Rinse the air trap or chamber to remove grease and soap buildup.
- 4. Test the pressure sensor/switch: With power off, disconnect the Hisense pressure sensor connector and inspect for corrosion. If you have a meter and service data, check that the sensor changes resistance or switch state when gentle pressure is applied. Replace if unresponsive.
- 5. Check inlet valve for sticking: If the tub slowly fills with water even when off, the inlet valve is leaking and must be replaced.
- 6. Reset and test: Reassemble, restore power and water, and run a short cycle. If E4 returns, the level sensor or control board may require professional diagnosis.
