Possible Causes
Open or shorted tank temperature probe, Damaged wiring harness to probe, Probe coated with heavy scale causing incorrect readings, Faulty analog input on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the tank and booster to cool before touching any temperature components.
- Locate the temperature probe: On Insinger dishwashers, the tank probe is typically threaded into the tank wall or mounted in a well. Carefully remove any access panels to reach it.
- Inspect for scale and damage: Check the probe tip for heavy mineral buildup. Gently descale with a non-abrasive pad if necessary. Inspect the cable for cuts or burns.
- Electrical test: Disconnect the probe and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to the Insinger service chart for the specific thermistor type. An open or shorted reading indicates a failed probe.
- Check wiring harness: Trace the harness from the probe to the control board. Repair any damaged insulation or loose connectors.
- Control input: If a known-good probe still reads incorrectly, the control board’s temperature input circuit may be defective and require replacement.
