Possible Causes

Stuck tank float due to debris, Failed float switch contacts, Misadjusted float assembly, Damaged wiring to float switch

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and allow hot water to cool. Be cautious when reaching into the tank.

  • Locate and inspect float: Find the tank float assembly (often in a corner of the tank). Lift and lower it by hand to ensure free movement. Remove any debris or scale that may cause sticking.
  • Clean float guide: If the float rides in a guide tube, descale and clean the tube so the float moves smoothly.
  • Test float switch: With the float in the up and down positions, test continuity across the switch terminals. Replace the switch if it does not change state reliably.
  • Check wiring: Inspect the harness from the float switch to the control board for damage or loose connectors.
  • Reassemble and test: After cleaning and replacing parts, run a fill cycle and verify that the water stops at the correct level and E14 clears.
