Possible Causes

Failed wash pump motor, Seized wash pump impeller, Open overload or thermal protector, Faulty wash pump contactor or relay on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect electrical power and allow the machine to cool. Lock out/tag out in commercial settings.

  • Check for obstructions: Remove wash arms and strainers. Inspect the pump intake for broken glass, utensils, or heavy debris that could jam the impeller.
  • Inspect wash pump motor: Access the wash pump motor under the tank. Try rotating the motor shaft or impeller by hand (with power off). If seized, the pump assembly may need replacement.
  • Electrical tests: Measure resistance across the motor windings and check for continuity to ground. An open winding or ground fault indicates a bad motor.
  • Overload / thermal protector: Some Insinger wash pumps include an external overload. Check for a manual reset button and reset if tripped. If it trips repeatedly, the motor may be failing or overloaded.
  • Control relay / contactor: Verify that the wash pump contactor or relay is energizing during the wash phase. If the coil is powered but contacts do not close, replace the contactor/relay. If the coil never energizes, suspect the control board or wiring.
