Possible Causes
Failed detergent pump motor, Blocked detergent injection line, Empty or collapsed detergent supply container, Faulty detergent control output or wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and wear gloves and eye protection when handling commercial detergents.
- Verify chemical supply: Check that the detergent container feeding the Insinger dishwasher is not empty and that the pickup tube is fully submerged and not kinked.
- Inspect detergent pump: Locate the external or built-in detergent pump. Check for leaks, cracked tubing, or a seized pump head. Manually rotate the pump head (if possible) to ensure it is not jammed.
- Check tubing and injection point: Follow the detergent line to the injection fitting on the tank or inlet. Clear any crystallized detergent or blockages.
- Electrical test: Measure resistance of the detergent pump motor. If open or shorted, replace the pump. During a wash cycle, verify that the control sends voltage to the pump terminals.
- Control calibration: Some Insinger models use a chemical controller. Verify settings and prime the pump according to the manufacturer’s instructions after repairs.
