Possible Causes
Failed Maidaid safety thermostat, Stuck heating relay causing overheating, Blocked circulation causing localised overheating, Faulty temperature sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate power and allow the machine to cool completely before touching internal components.
- Check for overheating signs: Look for steam, very hot door, or tripped external safety devices.
- Locate safety thermostat: On many Maidaid models, a manual-reset safety thermostat is mounted on the tank or boiler. Press the reset button if present.
- Inspect circulation: Ensure the Maidaid wash pump is operating and that filters and spray arms are not blocked, which can cause local overheating.
- Test thermostat: With a multimeter, check continuity across the safety thermostat. Replace if it does not reset or remains open at normal temperatures.
- Check heater control: If the heater remains energised when it should be off, the control board heater relay may be welded closed. This requires replacement of the PCB by a qualified technician.
