Possible Causes

Clogged drain filter and sump, Blocked or kinked drain hose, Clogged sink/disposal connection, Failed Midea drain pump

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dishwasher or switch off the breaker before clearing blockages or removing panels.

  • Clean the filter and sump: Remove the lower rack and take out the filter assembly. Scoop out standing water with a cup. Check the sump opening for food, glass, or labels blocking the drain path.
  • Inspect drain hose: Follow the corrugated drain hose from the dishwasher to the sink drain or garbage disposal. Ensure it is not kinked, crushed, or looped too low (must form a high loop or use an air gap).
  • Check sink/disposal: Run water in the sink and verify it drains quickly. If a new disposal was installed, confirm the dishwasher knockout plug was removed from the disposal inlet.
  • Test drain pump: Restore power and start a drain or cancel cycle. Listen for the drain pump. If it hums but does not pump, or is silent, the pump may be jammed or failed.
  • Advanced check: With power off, access the bottom of the unit and remove the Midea drain pump from the sump. Inspect the impeller for obstructions and spin it by hand. Replace the pump if seized or burned.
