Possible Causes
Defective door switch, Misaligned door latch, Broken door strike, Loose wiring to door switch on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer or switch off the circuit breaker before any disassembly.
Steps to check and correct:
- Inspect the door closure: Open and close the door firmly. Ensure the latch engages fully and the door is not sagging. If the door feels loose, tighten the door hinge screws.
- Check the door strike and latch: Examine the plastic/metal door strike on the door and the latch on the cabinet. If cracked, bent, or worn, they may not actuate the switch. Replace damaged parts.
- Test the door switch: Remove the top panel (usually rear screws, slide back and lift). Locate the door switch assembly near the door opening. Disconnect the harness and test the switch with a multimeter for continuity when the button is pressed. Replace if open or intermittent.
- Inspect wiring: Check the harness from the door switch to the main control board (PCB) for loose connectors or damaged wires. Reseat connectors firmly.
- Reset power: After repairs, restore power and try starting a cycle. If E01 persists with a known-good switch and wiring, the control board may be faulty and should be diagnosed by a technician.
