Possible Causes

Severely blocked exhaust duct, Blocked lint filter housing, Failed exhaust temperature sensor (NTC), Defective blower wheel

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dryer and allow it to cool completely before inspection.

Steps to restore airflow:

  • Deep clean lint path: Remove the lint filter and vacuum the lint filter housing thoroughly. Use a long brush to reach deep into the housing.
  • Clean the entire vent system: Disconnect the vent hose from the dryer and wall. Use a vent brush or vacuum to remove lint from the hose and wall duct all the way to the outside vent hood. Ensure the outside flap opens freely.
  • Inspect blower wheel: Remove the front or rear panel (model dependent) to access the blower housing. Check for lint clogs, foreign objects, or a loose blower wheel on the motor shaft. Tighten or replace the blower wheel if it wobbles or is cracked.
  • Check exhaust NTC sensor: Locate the exhaust temperature sensor (NTC) on the outlet duct. Test its resistance against Asko specifications (varies with temperature). Replace if readings are out of range or open/shorted.
  • Reset and test: After cleaning and repairs, restore power and run a timed dry cycle with no load. If E04 reappears quickly, further diagnosis of the control board and heater circuit is recommended.
