Possible Causes

Broken or slipped drive belt, Seized drum support rollers, Seized idler pulley, Overloaded drum causing belt slip

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dryer. Moving parts and sharp edges can cause injury.

Steps to check and fix:

  • Check drum rotation by hand: Open the door and try to turn the drum. If it spins freely with no resistance, the belt may be broken. If it is very stiff, suspect seized rollers or idler.
  • Inspect belt and supports: Remove the top and rear/front panels to access the belt and drum supports. Replace a broken belt with the correct Balay belt and route properly.
  • Check rollers and idler: Spin each roller and the idler pulley. Replace any that are noisy, wobbling, or seized.
  • Reassemble and test: After replacing parts, reassemble and run a test cycle with a moderate load.
