Possible Causes
Defective door interlock switch, Broken or misaligned door latch hook, Damaged door wiring harness at hinge area, Faulty main control module (PCB)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Balay dryer from the mains before any work. Do not bypass safety switches for normal operation.
Steps to check and fix:
- Inspect the door closure: Open and firmly close the door. Check that the latch hook engages fully with the door lock. If the door feels loose or does not click, the latch or lock may be worn.
- Check for obstructions: Look for lint or fabric caught around the door catch or in the lock opening. Clean with a soft brush and cloth.
- Test the door switch: With power disconnected, remove the front panel or door trim (depending on model) to access the door lock assembly. Check the microswitch actuator moves freely. Use a multimeter to test continuity of the door switch when the latch is engaged. Replace the door lock assembly if open circuit.
- Inspect wiring: Examine the wiring harness from the door lock to the main control module for broken, pinched, or burnt wires, especially near the hinge area. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
- Reset power: After checks, reconnect power and try starting a cycle. If E01 persists and the door lock tests good, the main control module may be faulty and should be diagnosed or replaced by a qualified technician.
