Possible Causes
Dirty or coated moisture sensor bars, Broken moisture sensor wiring, Faulty moisture sensor module, Faulty main control module (sensor input)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the dryer from mains power before removing any covers.
Steps to check and fix:
- Locate the moisture sensors: On most Balay condenser and heat pump dryers, two metal sensor bars are located inside the drum near the lint filter area or on the front bulkhead.
- Clean the sensor bars: Residue from fabric softener and detergents can insulate the bars. Clean them thoroughly with a soft cloth and a bit of white vinegar or mild detergent. Rinse with a damp cloth and dry.
- Check wiring connections: Remove the top or front panel (model dependent) to access the back of the sensor bars. Ensure the connectors are firmly seated and wires are not broken or corroded.
- Test the sensor: With a multimeter, check continuity between the sensor terminals when a damp cloth bridges the bars. If there is no change in resistance, replace the moisture sensor assembly or sensor harness.
- Run a timed program: Reconnect power and try a purely timed drying program. If the dryer runs normally on timed but shows E02 on automatic programs, the moisture sensing circuit or control board is likely defective and may require professional replacement.
