Possible Causes
Open heating element, Tripped or failed thermal cut-out (thermal fuse), Faulty NTC temperature sensor, Loose or burnt heater wiring connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer. Heating components can remain hot after use; allow the unit to cool completely.
Steps to check and fix:
- Access the heater assembly: On many Balay dryers, the heater is located at the rear behind a metal cover. Remove the back panel to expose the heater housing.
- Inspect wiring and connectors: Look for burnt, loose, or discoloured connectors on the heater block and NTC sensor. Tighten or replace damaged connectors and wiring.
- Test the heating element: Disconnect the heater terminals and measure resistance with a multimeter. An open circuit indicates a failed heater assembly that must be replaced.
- Check thermal cut-out / thermostat: Many Balay heaters have one or more thermal cut-outs mounted on the heater housing. Test for continuity. If open and not resettable, replace the faulty thermostat or thermal fuse.
- Test the NTC sensor: Measure resistance at room temperature and compare with service data (typically several kΩ). A shorted or open NTC must be replaced.
- Reassemble and test: After replacing faulty parts, reassemble panels, reconnect power, and run a warm program. If E03 persists, the main control module heater relay or triac may be defective and should be checked by a technician.
