Possible Causes
Clogged lint filter, Blocked condenser or heat exchanger, Blocked exhaust air path inside machine, Failed high-limit thermostat or thermal cut-out
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer and allow it to cool fully. Overheating can cause burns.
Steps to check and fix:
- Clean user-accessible filters: Remove the lint filter and clean thoroughly. If there is a secondary filter in front of the condenser, clean it as well.
- Clean the condenser/heat exchanger: Remove the condenser unit (if removable) and rinse under running water until clear. Let it dry before reinstalling.
- Inspect internal airflow paths: Remove the rear and/or side panels to inspect ducts from drum to condenser and from condenser to fan. Remove lint build-up with a vacuum and soft brush.
- Check the fan wheel: Ensure the blower fan is not obstructed by lint or foreign objects and that it spins freely on the motor shaft.
- Test thermostats: Locate the high-limit thermostat(s) on the heater housing and airflow ducts. Test for continuity. Replace any open, non-resettable thermostats or thermal fuses.
- Reset and test: After cleaning and replacing faulty parts, reconnect power and run a test cycle. Persistent E05 may indicate a faulty NTC sensor or control board and should be evaluated by a technician.
