Possible Causes
Door lock solenoid not releasing, Broken door lock feedback switch, Jammed door latch, Control board door circuit fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer. If the door is locked with clothes inside, wait several minutes to see if it unlocks automatically before forcing it.
Steps to check and fix:
- Attempt manual release: Some Balay models have a manual door release accessible through the pump or filter flap. Consult the user manual and gently pull the release tab to open the door.
- Inspect the latch and strike: Check for deformation or damage to the door hook and strike plate. Replace if worn or bent.
- Access the door lock: Remove the front panel or door seal clamp to reach the door lock assembly. Check that the lock mechanism moves freely and is not obstructed by lint or broken plastic.
- Test the lock: Use a multimeter to test the lock coil and feedback switch. Replace the door lock assembly if the coil is open or the feedback switch does not change state.
- Check wiring and control: Inspect the harness from the lock to the control board. If all hardware is good and E11 persists, the control board door circuit may be defective and require replacement.
