Possible Causes
Water leak into base tray, Float switch in base activated, Blocked condensate channels causing overflow, Faulty leak sensor or float switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer. Water and electricity are a dangerous combination; dry any spilled water before further work.
Steps to check and fix:
- Inspect the base tray: Remove the lower front panel or side panel to access the base. If water is present, carefully soak it up with towels or a sponge.
- Check the float switch: Locate the float or leak sensor in the base tray. Ensure it moves freely and is not stuck by dirt or scale. Clean gently.
- Find the leak source: Examine the condensate hoses, pump housing, water tank connection, and drum seal area for drips or traces of water. Tighten hose clamps and replace cracked hoses.
- Clean condensate channels: Remove lint and debris from the channels leading from the condenser to the pump or tank. Blockages can cause overflow into the base.
- Test the float switch: Use a multimeter to check the switch operation as you move the float. Replace the float switch if it does not change state.
- Reassemble and test: After drying the base and fixing leaks, reassemble and run a short cycle while monitoring for new leaks. If E13 returns with a dry base, the leak sensor circuit on the control board may be faulty.
