Possible Causes
Faulty motor tachometer coil, Loose tachometer connector, Broken wiring between motor and PCB, Defective motor control circuit on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer. Rotating parts can cause injury; never test with covers removed and power applied unless you are qualified.
Steps to check and fix:
- Access the motor: Remove the rear or side panel to reach the drive motor.
- Inspect tachometer: On many Balay motors, the tachometer is a small coil or sensor mounted at the rear of the motor. Check that it is firmly attached and not physically damaged.
- Check wiring: Follow the tachometer wires to the control board. Look for breaks, chafing, or loose connectors.
- Measure tachometer resistance: Disconnect the tachometer connector and measure resistance. Compare with service data. An open circuit indicates a failed tachometer or motor.
- Replace motor if needed: If the tachometer is integrated and faulty, replace the complete motor assembly with a Balay-compatible motor.
- Control board check: If the tachometer and wiring are good, the motor control circuit on the PCB may be defective and require replacement.
