Possible Causes
Broken or slipped drive belt, Worn drum support rollers or bearings causing high friction, Faulty motor start capacitor (on some models), Foreign object jammed between drum and cabinet
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer. Do not keep running a humming motor; it can overheat and fail.
- Check drum movement: Try to rotate the drum by hand. If it is very stiff or jammed, inspect for trapped items at the front or rear of the drum.
- Inspect belt: Remove the top and rear panel to view the belt. If broken or off the pulley, replace the belt and ensure correct routing.
- Check rollers and bearings: Spin the drum support rollers and rear bearing by hand. Replace if noisy or seized.
- Test motor capacitor (if fitted): Locate the capacitor near the motor, inspect for bulging, and test capacitance. Replace if out of specification.
