Safety first: Unplug the dryer before working on the door lock.

• Check door alignment: Ensure the door closes squarely and the hinge screws are tight. Adjust hinges if the door sags.
• Inspect door lock: Remove the front panel trim to access the door interlock. Check for signs of overheating or mechanical wear.
• Lubricate lightly: If the mechanism is stiff, a very small amount of suitable plastic-safe lubricant on moving parts can help, but avoid contaminating electrical contacts.
• Test lock operation: With the lock removed and disconnected, test continuity across the lock contacts when actuated. Replace if unreliable.
• If E16 persists: The control board may not be driving the lock correctly and could require replacement.
