Possible Causes

Worn rear drum bearing, Worn front drum support felt or pads, Dry or worn idler pulley, Foreign object trapped between drum and front panel

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dryer before disassembly.

Initial inspection:

  • Rotate the drum by hand from the door opening and listen for squeals or grinding.
  • Check for coins, bra wires, or other objects caught in the front felt seal.

Component checks:

  • Remove the top and front panel to access the front drum supports and felt. Replace if worn through or heavily glazed.
  • Access the rear drum bearing (often via the rear panel) and inspect for wear or dryness. Replace the bearing kit if loose or noisy.
  • Spin the idler pulley by hand; replace if noisy or stiff.

Lubrication: Only use manufacturer-approved high-temperature lubricant where specified (e.g. on some rear bearings). Do not oil belts or felt seals.
