Possible Causes
Blocked lint filter, Blocked condenser unit (on condenser models), Obstructed vent hose or wall outlet (on vented models), Failed or slow-running drum fan motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the dryer to cool completely before working on it.
Restore airflow:
- Clean the lint filter: Remove the door filter and any secondary filters. Wash with warm soapy water, dry thoroughly, and refit.
- Check the condenser (condenser models): Remove the condenser unit from the bottom front compartment. Rinse thoroughly under running water to clear lint from the fins. Allow to drain and refit securely.
- Inspect venting (vented models): Disconnect the vent hose from the back of the dryer and from the wall outlet. Clear any lint build-up, kinks, or crushed sections. Ensure the external vent flap opens freely.
- Check the fan: Access the fan housing (usually from the rear or side). Ensure the fan wheel is not clogged with lint and spins freely on the motor shaft.
Reset and test: Some Belling dryers have a manual reset thermostat on the heater housing. With power off, press the small red button if present. Reassemble, reconnect power, and run a short cycle while monitoring temperature.
If E04 returns: The fan motor may be weak or the control board may be misreading temperature. Professional diagnosis is recommended.
