How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the appliance from the mains before removing any covers. Beware of sharp metal edges.
Mechanical checks:
- Try to turn the drum by hand: Open the door and rotate the drum. It should turn smoothly with moderate resistance. If it is very stiff or jammed, suspect bearings or foreign objects.
- Inspect the belt: Remove the top and rear panel to view the belt around the drum and motor pulley. If the belt is snapped, frayed, or off the pulley, replace it with the correct Belling belt.
- Check pulleys and bearings: Spin the idler/jockey pulley and rear drum bearing by hand. Any grinding, wobble, or stiffness indicates they should be replaced.
Electrical checks:
- Motor capacitor: Locate the start/run capacitor near the motor. With power off and capacitor discharged, test its capacitance with a suitable meter. Replace if significantly out of spec or bulging/leaking.
- Motor windings: Test motor winding resistance according to service data. Open or shorted windings require motor replacement.
Reassembly: Fit the new belt correctly around the drum and motor pulley, ensuring proper tension via the idler pulley. Refit panels and test. If E06 persists with a good belt and free drum, the main control PCB motor relay or triac may be faulty and should be checked by a technician.
