Possible Causes
Worn drum support rollers, Dry or failing idler pulley, Worn front drum glides, Foreign object caught between drum and front bulkhead
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before disassembly.
- Isolate noise: Run the dryer briefly (if safe) to identify whether the noise occurs only when the drum turns.
- Inspect front glides: Remove the front panel and examine the felt and plastic glides where the drum rides. If they are worn through or missing, replace the glide kit.
- Check rollers: Access the rear drum support rollers. Spin each roller by hand; if they squeal, wobble, or feel rough, replace them as a set.
- Inspect idler pulley: Check the idler pulley for smooth rotation. Replace if noisy or seized.
Lubrication is generally not recommended on these parts; replacement is the proper repair for worn components.
