Possible Causes
Flat-spotted drum rollers, Worn drum glides, Loose drum baffles, Items stuck in drum seam
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before opening the cabinet.
- Check load: Stop the dryer and redistribute the load. Very heavy items can cause temporary thumping.
- Inspect drum rollers: Remove the front panel and rotate the drum by hand. Watch the rollers; if they have flat spots or cause the drum to rise and fall, replace them.
- Check drum baffles: From inside the drum, press on each baffle (the plastic or metal lifters). Tighten or replace if loose.
- Inspect drum seam: Look for coins or small objects caught at the drum seam or felt seals and remove them.
Persistent banging after these checks may indicate a deformed drum or damaged cabinet, which should be evaluated by a technician.
