Possible Causes
Defective door switch, Misaligned door latch, Broken door strike, Loose wiring to door switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer or switch off the circuit breaker before removing any panels.
This error indicates the control does not see the door as properly closed/locked.
- Check door closure: Open and firmly close the door. Make sure no clothing is trapped in the door seal and that the door closes flush with the cabinet.
- Inspect door strike: Look at the plastic/metal door strike on the door. If it is cracked, loose, or missing, it will not engage the door switch. Replace the strike if damaged.
- Test door switch: With power disconnected, remove the top panel (usually rear screws) and access the door switch wiring harness. Check that the connector is fully seated. Use a multimeter to test continuity of the door switch when the door is closed. If it does not show continuity, replace the door switch assembly.
- Check latch alignment: If the door sags, gently lift and close it. If this allows the dryer to start, the hinges or latch plate may need adjustment or replacement.
If the error persists after replacing the door switch/strike, the main control board may be faulty and should be diagnosed by a qualified technician.
