Possible Causes

Dirty or coated moisture sensor bars, Broken moisture sensor wiring, Failed moisture sensor assembly, Faulty control board moisture sensing circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power before accessing internal wiring. Cleaning the sensor bars can be done with power off and door open.

  • Clean sensor bars: Locate the two metal strips inside the drum (usually near the lint filter housing). Using a soft cloth and rubbing alcohol or white vinegar, thoroughly clean the bars to remove fabric softener residue and lint. Do not use abrasive pads that can scratch the bars.
  • Test in timed dry: After cleaning, run a timed dry cycle. If the dryer runs normally in timed mode but not in auto-sense modes, the moisture sensor circuit is still suspect.
  • Inspect wiring: With power disconnected, remove the front lower panel or front panel to access the moisture sensor wiring harness. Ensure connectors are tight and wires are not broken or pinched.
  • Check continuity: Use a multimeter to verify continuity from each sensor bar terminal to the harness connector. Replace the moisture sensor assembly if open.

If E32 remains after sensor and wiring checks, the main control board may not be reading the sensor correctly and should be evaluated by a technician.
