Possible Causes
Moisture sensor bars shorted by wet lint, Moisture sensor harness shorted to ground, Control board misreading sensor, Residue bridging sensor bars
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing panels or handling wiring.
- Clean and dry drum: Remove any wet laundry and wipe the drum and sensor bars dry. Ensure no metal objects (coins, clips) are touching the sensor bars.
- Deep clean sensor bars: Use a non-abrasive pad and rubbing alcohol to scrub the bars until they are shiny. Residue can cause false readings.
- Inspect for shorts: With power off, access the sensor wiring behind the front panel. Look for bare wires touching the drum or chassis. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
- Test in timed mode: Run a timed dry cycle. If the dryer works normally in timed but not in sensor modes and E33 persists, the control board may require replacement.
Do not bypass the moisture sensor; it is a safety and performance component. If wiring and sensor are good, contact a professional for control board diagnosis.
