Possible Causes
Failed motor tachometer sensor, Loose tachometer connector at motor, Damaged motor harness, Faulty main control board speed sensing circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing the motor or control board.
- Check for overloading: Remove some items and run a smaller load. Overloading can cause speed fluctuations that trigger tachometer errors.
- Inspect motor connector: Access the motor by removing the front panel. Locate the small tachometer connector on the motor (often a separate two-wire plug). Ensure it is firmly connected and not corroded.
- Check harness: Follow the tachometer wires from the motor to the main control board. Look for pinched, cut, or burnt wires. Repair as needed.
- Test tachometer: Using a multimeter set to AC voltage, carefully (and only if you are experienced) measure the tachometer output while manually spinning the motor shaft; you should see a small AC voltage generated. If no signal is produced, replace the drive motor assembly.
If wiring and motor are good but E52 persists, the main control board may not be processing the tach signal correctly and should be replaced by a technician.
