If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before opening any panels. Heating components can remain hot after shutdown.
- Clean lint system: Remove and clean the lint filter. Open the lower front access and clean the internal lint duct. Check and clean the external vent and wall ducting to ensure strong airflow.
- Clean condenser (heat pump/condenser models): Remove the condenser unit (if user-removable) and rinse it thoroughly with warm water to remove lint from the fins. Let it dry before reinstalling.
- Check heater element: Access the heater housing (usually behind the rear panel). Inspect for broken coils or burnt spots. Test continuity across the heater terminals; if open, replace the heater assembly.
- Heat pump models: Listen for the compressor starting a few minutes into the cycle. If it never starts, or if the dryer shows E61 quickly, the compressor, inverter board, or related sensors may be faulty and require professional diagnosis.
If cleaning and heater checks do not resolve E61, the control board or heat pump system likely needs service by an authorized Electrolux technician.
