Possible Causes
Partially failed heater element (some coils open), Loose heater wiring, Failing heater relay on control board, Overheated or oxidized connectors
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before inspecting the heater circuit.
- Visual inspection of heater: Remove the rear panel and inspect the heater coil through the heater housing openings. Look for broken or sagging coils.
- Check heater resistance: Measure resistance across the heater terminals and compare to the service manual spec. A significantly higher resistance than normal can indicate partial failure.
- Inspect connectors: Remove and reinsert the heater and thermostat connectors to clean oxidation. Replace any discolored or heat-damaged terminals.
- Test operation: After reassembly, run a timed high-heat cycle and monitor exhaust temperature. If heat cycles erratically and E64 returns, the heater relay or control board may need replacement.
Because intermittent heating can be difficult to diagnose, if basic checks do not resolve E64, schedule service with an Electrolux technician.
