Possible Causes
Stuck front panel button, Moisture or detergent residue on control panel, Shorted user interface board, Damaged ribbon cable between UI and main board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing the control panel.
- Panel cleaning: Wipe the control panel with a slightly damp cloth and mild soap, then dry thoroughly. Do not spray cleaner directly onto the panel.
- Check for stuck buttons: Press each button individually and ensure it moves freely and clicks. If a button feels stuck, gently work it around the edges to free it.
- Power reset: After cleaning, leave the dryer unplugged for 10 minutes, then reconnect and test.
- Inspect UI board: If E68 persists, remove the control panel and inspect the user interface board and ribbon cable for corrosion or damage. Reseat the ribbon cable. Replace the UI board if there are visible burn marks or if the error remains.
If replacing the UI board does not clear E68, the main control board may also be affected and should be checked by a technician.
