Possible Causes
Loose or damaged ribbon cable between UI and main board, Faulty user interface board, Faulty main control board, Power surge damage
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before removing the control console.
- Power reset: Leave the dryer unplugged for 10–15 minutes, then reconnect and test. If E82 returns, proceed.
- Inspect ribbon cable: Remove the control panel and check the flat ribbon cable between the UI and main board. Ensure it is fully seated and not torn or kinked.
- Check for corrosion: Look for corrosion or discoloration on the cable connectors. Clean gently with electronic contact cleaner if needed.
- Replace UI board: If the cable is good but the panel remains erratic, replace the user interface board.
If E82 persists after UI replacement, the main control board is likely defective and should be replaced by a technician.
