Possible Causes
Defective door switch, Broken or misaligned door latch hook, Damaged door lock wiring harness, Faulty main control module (PCB)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer from the mains before any disassembly. Do not bypass safety switches for normal operation.
- Check door closure: Open and firmly close the door. Ensure no laundry is trapped in the door seal and that the latch engages with a clear click.
- Inspect door latch and strike: Examine the plastic/metal latch hook on the door and the strike on the cabinet. If bent, cracked, or loose, tighten screws or replace the damaged piece.
- Test door switch: Remove the top cover (usually 2–3 screws at the back, slide back and lift). Access the door switch from the front panel area. Disconnect the switch connector and test continuity with a multimeter while pressing the switch. Replace if it does not change state.
- Check wiring: Inspect the harness from the door switch to the main control module for broken wires, loose connectors, or burn marks. Reseat connectors firmly.
- If E1 persists: If the door switch and wiring are good, the main control module may be faulty. At this point, contact a qualified Gorenje service technician for PCB diagnosis and replacement.
