Possible Causes
Dirty or coated drum moisture sensor bars, Broken wire to moisture sensor, Faulty moisture sensor module, Defective main control board moisture circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before accessing internal wiring.
- Locate moisture sensor bars: On many Gorenje dryers, two metal strips are located inside the drum near the lint filter opening.
- Clean sensor bars: Wipe the bars thoroughly with a soft cloth and a bit of white vinegar or mild detergent to remove fabric softener residue and lint. Dry completely.
- Check wiring: From the front lower panel or behind the front panel, locate the wires connected to the sensor bars. Ensure they are firmly attached and not broken.
- Test continuity: Disconnect the sensor harness and check continuity through the bars when bridged with a damp cloth. If no change is detected, the sensor assembly may be faulty and should be replaced.
- Run a test cycle: After cleaning and checking connections, run a small load on an automatic program. If E5 reappears, the control board may require professional diagnosis.
